Shocking Incident in Bourget, Ontario: 1 OPP Officer Dead, 2 Others Injured

On Monday, tragedy struck in Bourget, Ontario, as one Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was killed and two others were injured in a shooting incident. The incident occurred during an investigation in the area.

The OPP have identified the officer who was killed as 37-year-old Marc Hovingh, a 28-year veteran of the force. The injured officers have been identified as Darren Croteau and Joseph Prevett, both of whom are in stable condition.

The suspect in the shooting has also been identified as 60-year-old Gary Brohman. He was found dead at the scene. The OPP have not released any further details regarding the incident, and the investigation is ongoing.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased officer, and praised the bravery of the OPP for their service and sacrifice. The Canadian flag at the Ontario legislature will be flown at half-mast in honor of Hovingh.

The OPP is a provincial police force in Canada responsible for providing law enforcement services to areas outside of municipalities. The force has approximately 8,000 uniformed officers and 3,000 civilian employees. It is one of the largest police services in North America.
